About the Foundation
Pan De Vida Scholarship Foundation was founded in 2018, and our foundation is a nonprofit, seeking to help children who need educational resources. We focus on Christian education because we value what our children learn, and we value the people who shape their minds. The environment of Christian education is surrounded by those who will take the time to instill good habits, morals, and ensure that each child receives the help they need.
In just a short span, our foundation has grown rapidly in terms of the number of scholarships granted. From 2018 to 2019, we’ve had three (3) scholars in the USA. The numbers jumped to 45 scholars in the USA, 13 in Mexico, and three (3) in Colombia from 2019 to 2020 and in the 2020-2021 period we kept growing and almost double the number of scholarship, reaching 81 students: 23 in the USA, 9 in Colombia and 49 in Mexico. Thanks to our sponsors, donors, and volunteers who work tirelessly to help less privileged students get the education they need.
About the Founder
Sandra Valenzuela has been a missionary for over 10 years. She feels that education is a gift and privilege that not every child gets, unfortunately. Instead of education, many children in other countries carry the burden of having to work from a very young age to help feed the family, and going to school is merely a dream that they can only pray to come true one day. As she has traveled to different countries to take humanitarian aid, she’s also managed to sneak in toys, crayons, coloring books, and candy for the less fortunate kids who, even though she’s never seen again, have always had a piece of her heart. While out in the midst of them, in orphanages and schools for children of low-income families, she was touched by what the schools were doing for these children. One day she felt to have received a revelation that the children were not only just receiving a class or even a break from working but instead a hallway full of opened doors for the future. Many of the students were the first generation to ever be given the opportunity to go to school and learn English and to not only break the pattern of illiteracy but also, once established in the future, will remember that kindness and also invest in the next generation who needs that help. Sandra is passionate about not just the privilege of education but also grateful for the American right to receive education and the freedom of religion. Therefore, she’s made it her goal to not only help children in other countries but also less-fortunate children who live here in America who desire a Christian education. She has been a substitute teacher in both the public and private school systems and realizes that we are not just educating children but instead educating future adults. She often prays for God to bless America and to help us keep in mind those who aren’t as privileged.
